February 14, 2010 - No decant. Very disappointing. Completely fell apart after an hour of being open. Nose is still pretty amazing, but the wine is so soft and lifeless, it is not enjoyable to drink at all. Nothing but some flat fruit and smoked meat. No acidity, tannins or body. Reminds me of a cola that has gone flat. Definitely past its prime...we should have finished this off back in 2008 with the other 3 bottles.
March 14, 2009 - Mild fruity nose, thin, earthy, leather, mild tannins.
October 16, 2008 - Decanted 30 min. Nose of earth, smoke and blueberry fruit. Attack and mid-palate are similar, with a tar component appearing as well. I love the earthiness and big blueberry flavors. This went very well with a vegetarian pizza. One of my favorite offerings from Stolpman, I'm extremely disappointed they discontinued this cuvee. The latest release of their Estate Syrah has 15% Grenache, so I'm *hoping* it will be similar to this wine (especially since I'm down to my last bottle!).
July 6, 2008 - Great fruit, earthiness and mineral flavors. Blueberry pops nicely.
July 2, 2008 - Popped and poured. Nose of earth, blueberry and tar, following to the palate. Has that distinctive Stolpman earthiness that can be overpowering, but, as with the Syrah, is VERY nice here. For sub-$20, this is a killer wine. Must buy more, as Stolpman has discontinued this cuvee. Outstanding - 91 points.
February 3, 2006 - a great under 20. love this wine
December 5, 2005 - VERY tasty wine and high points for incredible QPR. Can quaff or stand up to big red meats. Ready to drink now.
