March 1, 2024 - Bright golden yellow in color. Classic aromas of petrol (that blows away with time in the glass), melange of herbs, tangerine oil, slate, lemon and peach. A gorgeous and electric palate follows through with yellow and orange citrus over sweet peaches and pears, honeysuckle, salty minerals, high acidity and a long, long herbal, floral and perfectly off-dry finish. Not easy to put down the glass.

This late released bottle of JJ Prüm Himmelreich Spätlese needed some air to unfold. As is often the case with Prüm wines, it's difficult to detect the age on these well stored bottles. A hint of petrol, followed by lemon/lime, bergamot jam, kumquat, honey, ripe apricot, apple and peach. From a warmer vintage, this is still incredibly well balanced and elegant. Very good! Now-2040

March 5, 2023 - Wonderful wine. The last one I had was 8 years ago and this is still getting better. I have one more, which I'll leave for a while. The petrol nose on this over the first couple of glasses was immense. Totally integrated with good acid and a lot of fruit, grapefruit, apple and then honey. Medium bodied. And good length. Such a nice drink....

November 15, 2022 - A homecoming bottle ! This is a terrific wine with a still fresh pale colour and a lifted nose of pine-lime splice, lemonade fruit, white peaches and cherries. The palate has a lovely medium weight and intensity that persists with fine acid and citrus elements that provide balance. It remains in many senses remarkably primary yet there is great length and a fresh minerality which provides real sophistication.
