September 7, 2023 - This pours medium garnet with medium bricking. The nose is immediately expressive and appealing with green tobacco leaf, sundried tomato, dried dark cherry, sweet cedar, charcoal, and dried black currants. The palate is a touch thin, opening on red current, turning to medium minus tannin and medium plus acid. The finish closes quite gravelly and lightly green with a kiss of tobacco. All in all this is a very nice showing and a lovely old bottle. Quite an appealing wine to drink. Despite the mid-shoulder fill this is very alive and intact. The 1975 vintage plays a part in retaining notable tannin, but better managed than some other '75s I've had. Better than the 75 Haut Batailley consumed a few weeks back.

January 8, 2023 - Adriana's birthday party (80) and dinner and 'her' Frans opened some nice bottles: an earthy bouquet, firm wood, good tannins, a bit pushing in the midtaste , but consider it as positive; 87 points + 1 for surviving so well in this difficult vintage.

October 9, 2022 - Drank very well for a wine at 47 years from vintage. Low shoulder fill but cork intact. Shows a wonderful pipe tobacco and mushroom note with some iron notes mixed in. Palate is completely integrated and tertiary, and somewhat dilute. Finish as expected lack’s intensity, but shows some tobacco notes before drying out to tinny iron notes.

December 18, 2020 - Not particularly enjoyable as a beverage. Bottle condition seemed fine. After some delicious 1975s in the past, this was the revenge of 1975 tannins. The fruit was still Just about there but any pleasant Bordeaux secondary characteristics were overshadowed by harsh tannin. Still fun to open one of these though.
