December 18, 2020 - Not particularly enjoyable as a beverage. Bottle condition seemed fine. After some delicious 1975s in the past, this was the revenge of 1975 tannins. The fruit was still Just about there but any pleasant Bordeaux secondary characteristics were overshadowed by harsh tannin. Still fun to open one of these though.

December 3, 2019 - Cork pushed down; earth, blackberry, sweet elegant fruit; balance and complex and layered; soft tannins and sweet mellow finish.

June 16, 2019 - Cork came out in one piece, but was pretty spongey.

Wine started out bracingly metallic, like chewing aluminum foil, with shellfish flavors—like clam juice, without any salinity. After an hour or so, the aluminum dissipated somewhat into the more familiar stale cardboard of brett-infection.

I had mostly given up hope, but after a few more hours, the wine did begin to show some of the desireable traits of old Bordeaux: brick, gravel, soy umami, and black olive, along with some dark berry flavors.

The wine wasn’t really showing it’s age: color was dark and inky, not much in the way of oxidative flavors, and there was virtually no precipitate in the bottle.

Not what I had hoped for, but not a total loss.

June 13, 2019 - Celebrating the 30 years relationship of Frans and Adriana, June 10th (Babylon, Alkmaar): A magnum, starting a bit shy, but very lively with some fruit. Two hours later the wine really blossoms with better tannins and more body. It is a gentle and refined bordeaux and in magnum worth looking for.
