December 3, 2022 - Purchased nearly 12 years ago in Germany. Cellared properly since purchase, discounting move from Germany to USA in early winter 11 years ago. This wine still has it going at this point in its life. Lovely nose of dark fruit, some leather it seems. On the palate it still has nice acidity to balance the body and tannins (which are well integrated). A great example of a finely made wine that, when taken care of, still delivers at the end of its suggested drinking window. I have experienced just the opposite with 6 bottles of late Cru Beaujolaid and 4 bottles of Valpolicella Classico, both from respected producers. A statement, I feel. Too many hands in the pot, so to speak. Bottles passed along and along and along before you get them as the consumer. Not so good a thing. Cheers, friends!

December 30, 2020 - Consistent with my note from March. The wine is purple and opaque with long legs and medium viscosity. The nose is dense rich black and red fruit. The nose is the best feature of this wine. Modest acidity, medium-plus mouth feel and and a rich dark fruit finish. The intensity is surprising given the 13% heat. Drinking well. 5+12+17+8=92

December 12, 2020 - I've kinda stopped writing notes during the Quar, but this was really good.
