December 3, 2022 - Purchased nearly 12 years ago in Germany. Cellared properly since purchase, discounting move from Germany to USA in early winter 11 years ago. This wine still has it going at this point in its life. Lovely nose of dark fruit, some leather it seems. On the palate it still has nice acidity to balance the body and tannins (which are well integrated). A great example of a finely made wine that, when taken care of, still delivers at the end of its suggested drinking window. I have experienced just the opposite with 6 bottles of late Cru Beaujolaid and 4 bottles of Valpolicella Classico, both from respected producers. A statement, I feel. Too many hands in the pot, so to speak. Bottles passed along and along and along before you get them as the consumer. Not so good a thing. Cheers, friends!

December 30, 2020 - Consistent with my note from March. The wine is purple and opaque with long legs and medium viscosity. The nose is dense rich black and red fruit. The nose is the best feature of this wine. Modest acidity, medium-plus mouth feel and and a rich dark fruit finish. The intensity is surprising given the 13% heat. Drinking well. 5+12+17+8=92

December 25, 2016 - Gigantic, dark and powerfully built. This is not a wine to expect delicacy from at this stage in its life. There are many years of development to come here. Ashamed to say we couldn't finish the bottle due to its intensity. Drink 2020+

    September 23, 2016 - 13% ABV, 100% teroldego.

Raspberry confectionery, violets, spice and malt on the nose. The class of this maker is evident in the entry - fresh raspberry zing interspersed with dried herbs, kirsch cherry, touch of dark chocolate, full bodied and slick. A touch spirity on the finish. Concentrated and dense. Those who like fuller wines will appreciate this more than me, and can probably adjust this score 1-2 points up. 88 points first night.

24 hours later, with leftovers in a half bottle from the wine fridge (15 degrees): much better, and has become less viscous (now mid+) and more elegant. Essential to drink this one at 15-17 degrees, too warm and it bloats up a little bit. 90 points second night, and much more enjoyable.

October 27, 2015 - I love this wine, fresh red fruits, nice tannins - not too strong. Simply suberb and in the perfect drinking condition right now.
