Community Tasting Notes 3

October 20, 2020 - Potent, heady nose of blackberry and blueberry, a dusting of coal and spice. Attractive, and yet a hot note intrudes, same as the straight 08 Shiraz.

Deep, long palate of the same, intense and smooth. Polished leather glove, iron fist etc. A really good Clare Shiraz, but not even Wendouree and it’s ancient vines, accustomed to self-regulating vintage extremes, can quite defy the hot 08 vintage.

Tasted alongside the still fresh 1991 and stupendous 1998, this was a little overshadowed by its seniors. Intrigued to see how it evolves.

September 17, 2018 - Well balanced with black fruit still shining through the medium palate. Not much eucalyptus here (pleasantly). Tannins are melting away. Looking in good shape.

November 16, 2010 - A very young looking deep purple/red hue. This medium to full bodied Clare Valley red offers aromas of fresh red and black fruit, a touch of eucalyptus, earth and wood (which perhaps sticks out a little at this stage). On the palate the wine seems well balanced and savory while offering plenty of grippy tannins, fresh acidity and a nice line and focus.
