June 11, 2021 - Better than my last bottle about a month ago. Stronger fruit, more complexity and no nail polish remover scents. Bottle variation?

May 16, 2021 - The tannins are a bit more resolved than when I last had this in 2010, but the fruit is a bit sweet for me and there is an annoying note of nail polish remover here. Not sure if this is a representative bottle. While drinkable, I can't say I was thrilled with it.

April 8, 2021 - Pop and pour, followed half a bottle over 2 hours. The nose is a lively, red-fruited, leathery classic cabernet. The palate, regrettably, turns dark, dusty, and slightly jammy. I can tease out some nice flavors but the overall experience is not what I look for in a cabernet, it remains dense and jammy. Do bear in mind that I’m more of a traditionalist, this was the only bottle of RM cabernet that I have ever purchased because I discovered early on that I didn’t like the style. However, I’ve tasted at least 7 of these thanks to my generous friends, this being the oldest. I’m probably a lousy source of information if you like this profile, but if you do, why not go to Outpost, or Shafer, or Rudius, and there’s probably a plethora of producers I don’t know about that are in this style but so much more balanced and better. All I know is that I love the Rivers Marie chardonnays (most of the time) and the pinot noirs (pretty much all the time) and do not anticipate ever buying another Rivers Marie Cabernet. My score is based on the positive qualities of the nose and the negative qualities of the palate.

February 3, 2021 - Pop and pour....brownish purple starting to show age.
Muted nose....graphite, earth, darker berries, currants.
with Steak/New Potatoes; (90 minute decant) cinnamon, chocolate, black cherry, dark raspberry, balsamic.
    Really nice

January 24, 2021 - Very nice and in a good place. I am finding some spice on the back palate that is a bit distracting. But overall a nice, mature cab.
