June 22, 2019 - Dinner@BA: Blind. Gorgeous northern Rhône Syrah nose with that little extra floral, fragrant lift of CR. Meaty, nuanced, and really just very lovely. The black fruit of a previous bottle has mellowed to dark red and it’s complex, nuanced and long. Super wine. *****

February 3, 2019 - Super Bowl 2019 (Alpharetta, GA): Dark core with garnet rim; leather, black olive, some black pepper, compost; intense on palate, lots of fruit, leather, firm tannin, still quite pent up, very Syrah; called '99 Clape; 94+.

November 8, 2018 - A Special 40th Anniversary Celebration (Restaurant Daniel, New York City): I just couldn't get past the substantial VA here, which marred the underlying core of red fruit and pepper for me.

May 6, 2018 - Cellar Work? (Alpharetta, GA): Still quite dark color for 19 yrs old; nose and palate still showed some unresolved sulfur that dissipated after 30 minutes, classic nose of purple, olives, berries, plum, mineral infected, a touch of brown sugar is the only signature of some age, not quite black pepper and a bit one dimensional but unmistakably Cote Rotie, meaty texture with very juicy acid and sour purple fruit, love drinkability; very good; still somewhat young especially after having loved the 1988 a few weeks back.

March 18, 2018 - Elegantly perfumed. Iron, beef blood, cinnamon, charcoal, berries, cherries. Silky and balanced. Medium plus finish. At peak.
