December 25, 2021 - From a magnum with beef round roast. Outstanding classic Bordeaux. Black cherry and cassis fruit. Superbly integrated tannins. Long silky finish. I'm sure there was some magnum magic here and the bottle was of good provenance. This was the best Bordeaux that I've had in awhile.

July 2, 2021 - Soft fruit. All tannin and acid has diminished. Maybe the bottle, but no enjoyable.

August 24, 2019 - Drinking perfectly right now. Smoothed out silky tannins, dark fruit, judicious oak. Not quite as powerful and impressive as a 750 a couple years ago but really tasty and versatile.

September 25, 2017 - Fantastic and drinking beautifully. Poor man's leoville. Inky dark fruit/cherries, rocks, lead. So much fruit but pleasantly long and dry finish. Silky. Incredible QPR shows the power of the vintage.

November 1, 2010 - Very good, fruity, still primary w/some tannin to resolve, give others a few years

December 27, 2008 - Acceptable, but not magical. Decanted this 1.5L bottle about 30 min. prior to consumption. Started off a bit tart and sour but mellowed over time to show more fruit. Wasn't much of a hit. Did improve with time though.

February 29, 2008 - From magnum. Had been wanting to pop one for awhile, and finally found a Friday night to do so. Poured about 375ml into a decanter and enjoyed a few glasses over several hours. Deep purple color. A rich nose of dark fruits and menthol/eucalyptus. Normally, I'd be put off by the green notes, but here it doesn't seem out of place. Definitely full-bodied - this wine has some serious stuffing. Given its age, it's expected that it'd finish a bit hot...but you can definitely see the potential here. Will see how this develops tomorrow...a great start. 89 for now.

On day 2 it's better integrated and sheds a bit of the green notes. A substantial wine that'll only improve with age. Can't wait to see how this develops...will cellar my remaining bottles for a awhile.

September 2, 2007 - I'm new to Bordeaux so I've been trusting others. 2005 has gotten a lot of praise and this wine came recommended. I'm just not a fan. Watery, flat, a little sour, dry; makes me pucker. I strongly prefer Cal Cabs, Aussie/NZ reds. Nothing about this impressed me in terms of what I typically look for: big nose, round full fruit, spice, finish. Others praised it but they might have been being polite - or lacking adequate comparison. I could drink this again as a table wine but it's not a special occasion wine for me, at all. Better than some of the others I've purchased from the same source, however.
