    April 9, 2022 - Open 3 hours, decanted 90 minutes, served high 50’s -low 60’s

As with most CH of this age, showing little signs of browning.

Lovely aromatics. Acidity, fruit and tannins holding in balance

Unforgettable with a fresh ewe’s cheese; the sweet white chocolate of first milkings really brought out blackcurrant fruit and freshness.

Fifth and by far the best of the (half) case I bought a couple of years ago. Extreme bottle variability could be an issue, despite solid provenance

May 1, 2021 - Popped and poured. Had a weird rotten vegetable smell, so I drank this over the course of 4 hours and the next day. Unfortunately, this never blew off and it just ruined the wine for me. No fresh fruit, nothing. Just the slight tobacco and canned peas notes. Palate is smooth, fully developed with dangerously low levels of acidity. Just a brush of tannins and a moderate finish. Wouldn't recommend.

December 31, 2020 - Decanted three hours, served at 60F into Riedel old world syrah glasses. A mistake - I thought of Covid symptoms as this was so closed with a hint of earth that I was worried about my taste buds, and was thinking it didn't nearly equal another SA syrah from a couple of days ago

Moved to generic French glasses and was more than relieved to find the blackcurrants and spice I had been missing.

Interesting observation: this goes well with stilton

October 1, 2020 - Pnp not normally recommended because of sediment

Ripe blackcurrants and bacon on nose. High acidity holding despite brick colour on edge
