February 23, 2024 - A great experience - we opened an decanted the wine 5 hours before drinking - you do not think this wine is 28 years old - here I am have to mention that it is a magnum - you get freshness and good acidity and some tannins - but both are well integrated the wine has a great balance - and a got long aftertaste - the wine gives you lots of complexity - we are getting coffee - and chocolate also some tobacco. The fruit is cherries, cranberries, plums and some black berries - I like the wine and think it will be great for some years to come - I think 95 is a fair rating. Just sorry it is my last magnum 1996.

September 24, 2021 - Boom! Outstanding barolo at its peak and with at least 3-4 years to go. Absolutely excellent. Lots of complexity and great great balance

After a string of bad old Italian wines ( The London purchases of old Italian wines are such a gamble we feel) this wine came to restore our faith.
We tried this a year ago and rated 93 but this time round this was a masterclass of a bottle. Needs some decanting and post that it sings. Very elegant, good dark fruits, still quite a lot of healthy fruit, round yet firm tannin. Superb wine! Needs decanting, a good hour or so to open up but also lose a bit of a struck match note.
Post decanting this is a really fine and elegant Barolo. Having just tried a week ago its sibling from the 2001 vintage ( Papies 95) this felt a bit past its peak and the fruit is staring to die away. September 22, 2015 - My 50th extravaganza (Chez moi): Certainly one of the better showings of this wine – and it is still young, There is fatness and creaminess but also tannins, tar, precision in the attack – a barolo as we like it, showing the great vintage. Great also two days later. Provinence: GL
