March 17, 2024 - Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): From magnum. Wonderful stuff, among my favourites tonight just for how it showed today. Ripe black fruit, plenty of dried herbs, and a leathery funk that really brings the whole package together. On the palate, this is resolved, and shows plenty of spice and leather. A very highly praised bottle among so many others tonight.

May 20, 2023 - I found this 375ml in the back of the wine fridge while reorganizing. Had it with cheeseburgers and fries. What a treat. Best about 2 hours after opening. Ahhh really so nice. I thought about that scene from Last of Us. Great nose of bloody meat, smoke, earth, a bit of funk, cherry coke, menthol. Mouth-filling, long, almost like umami. If this were the last glass I had at the end of days, that would be alright.

May 14, 2022 - 7th of 12, opened 90 minutes, perfect level, quarter stained cork, wonderful now after a shaky start (cf previous notes, last Feb 20), beautifully nuanced, fresh and remarkably gluggable given alcohol, some upside, 20 years. F+ (18)......and hopefully not a one off bottle!
