July 8, 2011 - I'm a big fan of Piedirosso and think its an under-rated grape. That said I'm not a huge fan of the 09 - the nose is nice - a stron peppry note with soft red fruits - almost a bit of candied note - some herbs - really complex. But on the palate I find it a bit one dimensional - its tight and somewhat dry - black pepper - a hint of sweetness would set this off. Overall an interesting wine but balance is just off a bit...
