July 18, 2022 - Purchased a half case over 10 years ago. No decant. Plenty of bricking, this was immediately aromatic after pulling the cork with roses, anise, violet, alcohol, pine tar, and crushed blue fruits. On the palate the time in bottle has definitely tamed the tannins. On the attack there is an energetic lift of acidity, but no so bright as to wash out the iron, anise, blue fruits (oddly), and dried herbs. In the mid palate there is a smoked cherry wood that walks toward the finish, where a tobacco leaf lingers for 45+ seconds. A likable aged Nebbiolo that was not overextracted, and draws out a good middle aged drinking experience. Pull a cork now through 2030.
After posting my note I went back to review other CT reviews. Tim Heaton’s March 2015 note sums think up pretty well. Pop the cork and drink this.
June 21, 2020 - Aged very well, no funk. Great nose but had a heavy taste of anise/licorice which is not my favorite. Opened up a bit more over time.
May 16, 2020 - disappointed with this one.
showing significant age with browning color. nose is solid oak. palate is dominated by oak. made my olive oil and rosemary flank steak taste like oak.
couldn't drink it and opened another wine.
maybe should have drunk while the fruit was more lively and before i developed this aversion to strong oak.
i am even reluctant to cook with it. bummer
December 5, 2018 - Nice barolo but in a style that is not your typical traditional barolo. Had good flavor and complexity but not sure that I would buy it again. Nose was a little strange, but good finish and mouthfeel. Just don't think it was worth $50.
September 25, 2017 - After an hour decant this becomes beautifully integrated, balanced wine with medium weight fruit with notes of forest floor, lavender and licorice. Super smooth, easy drinking Barolo. Gets better with each glass
July 7, 2016 - Popped and poured and enjoyed a few glasses over 1.5 hours. Round and approachable Barolo. Not at all tannic or rustic as one might expect from a 10 year old Barolo. It did have some acid on the finish that might give it away as nebbiolo. I'd put this in the category of well made but not necessarily typical. Enjoy it for what it is. And this is fine to drink now or hold for a few years.
July 5, 2015 - Rich, creamy, and glossy, with rounded edges and somewhat matted layers of flavors - exactly why I bought this stuff, for guests that prefer this style of wine. Very little in the way of typicity of grape or place, so after my first pour was gone, I switched to a nice, dry German Riesling and watched as the Preda was emptied in what had to be record time. Harmless, and avoids being boring thanks to some freshness and basic purity. 14,0% abv.

March 7, 2015 - Do not decant; do not Audoze. Just pop n pour this easy drinking, readily approachable Barolo. Some modest typicity on the nose, but the supple flavors and aromas, most of which skew toward (over) ripe cherry skins and pretty floral accents, are mostly simple in nature. This wants to shut down, so don't give it air - just fill your glass, drink, repeat. With air, the tannins get hard, slightly bitter, the fruit gets overwhelmed a little by the acids. So, either PnP, or keep it in the cellar for 4-5 more years as it continues to integrate. New-Worldy, yes, but nothing showy or overly gratuitous. Thru 2023.
