December 26, 2021 - A serious wine in its prime, but with more years to go. Juicy, intense, deep and full-bodied, with silky but still grippy tannins and a touch of bitterness and almost ferrous taste on the finish. Excellent.

November 22, 2021 - Bright cherry nose. Medium body, strong fruit of more cherry, earth, leather, spice and plum. Still vibrant, early in its drinking window. Lovely wine, thought provoking but highly drinkable.

November 1, 2020 - Italian lunch & blind tasting. Great showing of this wine. Intense cherry aromas, earhty elements, pronounced tannins on the finish, very Italian in style, hard to tell apart from a Sangiovese.

October 22, 2020 - Unusually dark color for Etna, reminiscent of black current with red current edges. Decanted and served immediately, it was highly aromatic after just five minutes and continued to open up, reaching its maximum aromatic profile after about 45 minutes. The tannins also emerged gradually, and at the 1.5 hour mark it showed its full tannic self. Redolent of sweet dark fruits, smoke, leather, anise and lavender, with a captivating medicinal quality, the wine has a medium++ body, excellent, sappy acidity, and a very long, bittersweet, smokey and tannic finish. It has hints of dried fruits emerging. Silky and suave, this has many good years ahead. It is the biggest and most tannic Terre Nere wine that I can remember.

Even though it was fragrant and delicious almost immediately, I would recommend that this be decanted for 1.5 hours and served with roast meat or full-bodied, creamy plates that can handle the tannin. Excellent QPR.

July 12, 2020 - Roasty, meaty notes. Slightly jammy, borderline overripe fruit. Some oak influence evident but decently integrated. TBH this is the side of Etna wines that lose me a bit - prefer the brighter styles.
