July 5, 2020 - Drink by 2020 in my cellar; 3/1/2020-7/8/2020: I love this for what it is—a well-made Riesling on the sweet side—but I seldom find the right time to drink it. I poured a small glass after dinner while grilling some vegetables outside for the next day, and that seemed—under the circumstances—a fine way to go. Really nice. Probably will not improve, so you know what to do.

April 2, 2020 - Drink by 2020 in my cellar; 3/1/2020-7/8/2020: Very nice; the characteristic sweetness complements spicy soups very well, and also pairs well with hearty salads

June 5, 2018 - pnp. cork perfect. color straw. nose shows dense fruit and some minerality. swishing shows some RS but this also has real density and acid structure. still quite youthful, and the balance between fruit and acid is there. will give remaining bottles time to resolve because i think that this will be great when it integrates further.

May 30, 2018 - As before: complex and sweet, but with a fresh crispness to it. With grilled salmon. Not an ideal pairing, but pleasant and interesting.

August 20, 2016 - I don't normally find occasion for Spätlese, but this followed a Riesling at the very end of dinner, and was very nice to sip. Sweet, bright, lively, and complex. Very tasty; the one glass, plenty.

(Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling Spätlese) ($36.00) From the sirloin parcel “Hinterhaus,” this is Leitz’s first sweet Spät from Rottland for many years. Nice he doesn’t do things by rote! It’s a rich, dense wine, a powerful masculine Spät in the patriarchal Rheingau paradigm; dark bread and chestnut puree; alpha-dog Riesling, not a demure or yielding bone in its body. Shows how to be gorgeous without being charming.
