January 23, 2024 - Delicate and lifted, this is an elegant wine. Leather and moist earth, dried cranberries, wood smoke, wet stones, and a touch of mustiness, but not in a bad way. Surprisingly, the ‘83 outshone the ‘82 on this evening.

May 2, 2016 - DRC Tasting Group: Bordeaux Night (Seattle, WA): Tasted blind. More secondary flavors on the nose; earth, spice. Tart cherry; medium weight; spice. Fine tannins, a bit more acid. Seems like it's already peaked.

March 28, 2016 - Decanted for 2 hours. Garnet red with a brownish rim. Beautiful nose of cigar box with cassis and other black fruits. The palate was dominated by acidity rather than tannins which were completely resolved. Not much persistence on the finish. Still nice, but starting to fade. If you have a bottle in your cellar, it needs drinking.

December 19, 2013 - XMas Caroling - Magnum - drinking very beautifully. Certainly not a blockbuster, but the nose has a lot of energy and depth. Silky wine with soft sweet tannins and dark fruit notes. Short finish, but still very enjoyable.

December 19, 2013 - Had at a Christmas Party out of a Magnum. The nose was amazing with a nice hint of oak. It was a very soft wine with some fruit still hanging around. The only shortfall was the short finish, but was still a very nice holiday treat. I love all of the wines from Poyferre as well as the other Leoville's.
