Community Tasting Notes 10

February 11, 2016 - Dark, moderately aromatic. Where it gets interesting is on the palate (usually I find the nose more intriguing). Starts with all the classic Southern Rhone components: garrigue, dark berries, a hint of funk etc. Strong effervescence sets this one apart. Surprised to find it in a 6+ years old CdR. Notes of CdP-like complexity and then a strong bitter coffee finish that I hope will tone down. I am ambivalent about this one as I do not expect most consumers to hold this one long enough to resolve (if that is to happen).

February 17, 2015 - Nose: Barnyard. Cold bone-fire. Mouth: There is some very dark fruit oozing out. Herbs, too. Good grip. 15% alc. which is over the top. Fortunately it feels more like a 14% alc. wine. A very good wine that is rustic and needs food. While breathing it is getting even better.

    October 23, 2013 - PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs and Day 2
    -dark purple/red
    -sweet dark berry, licorice, tobacco
-med acidity, med+ weight/concentration, sweet blue/black fruit liqueur, ripe supple tannins, some complexity
-a bit on the ripe/modern spectrum of CdR but really hits the spot on a cold fall evening, excellent now and 1-3 years upside anticipated

October 22, 2012 - a modern take on cdr. dense and extracted but keeps overall balance. could be confused with a higher pedigreed wine such as cdp or Gigondas. drink now through 2018

October 3, 2012 - perfect cdr. typical southern Rhone stench. I meant that in a very positive way. a bit more complexity and it'll pass for a good CDP.
