December 1, 2023 - To celebrate our youngest daughters 21st bday...the last red label...the crazy sharp acidity has finally been tamed! My experience with 02 DP has always been with high toned, pop rocks acidity rave party...last noted 8yrs ago...and now...it's finally calmed down, and is lovely! Wonderfully aged and sultry...classic DP caramel vanilla creme, white flower florals, sauteed apples...ginger and fresh bread dough mousse... pillow soft...salty crushed rock minerality...age has brought on some nice tertiary white mushroom, dried honey, and truffle...still a bright beam of lemon/grapefruit squeeze acidity...a PERFECT drink with a roasted chicken and mushroom dish! Happy bday Sophie!
October 28, 2023 - Just at the leading edge of maturity, the ‘02 Dom Pérignon is bold, lively, lemony and gingery. It commands your tongue to curl up and pay attention. For the first few seconds there was a bright strawberry/cherry aroma which of course made me think it was Rosé.
July 23, 2023 - Definitely at peak, where it will remain for a few more years. Bead just starting to fade, but hazelnut notes have yet to take over. Still light golden color. Creamy green apple, lemon zest, touch of yeast, very rich and smooth with a long finish.
April 9, 2022 - A fabulous Dom. It is at prime drinking now. Drink the 08 now fir it’s vibrancy and freshness . The 02 for the full package.
March 4, 2022 - NOT Andy Warhol type
January 14, 2022 - Classic Dom. Green apples, citrus, just starting the develop that dash of hazelnut at mid palate. Modest yeast. 25 second finish.
August 29, 2021 - Pale straw gold. Aroma of honey, lemon zest, grape fruit, eucalyptus and mint. Palate entry of strong effervescence and lemon zest, followed by mid-palate of refreshing honey & grapefruit with mint. Long finish of rich citrusy fruits and mango towards the end of bottle after a couple of hours. Great champagne with nice waxy mouthfeel, honey, mint, mango and other tropical fruits. Still great life ahead of the '02.
August 5, 2021 - It’s finally turned the corner and starting to exhibit some secondary characteristics of toast and yellow fruit. Active foam but not aggressive. The lemony acidity has begun to integrate. A fine Dom Pérignon in the making.
June 26, 2021 - Excellent overall. Rich expression.
March 6, 2021 - Purple label
Dull yellow, apple juice in color. Small , slow consistent, bubbles
Nutty brioche on the nose. Rather faint.
Lots of mousse. Lemon zest, more brioche and nuts. Medium finish.
A lovely bottle for sure, but it seems to have waned a little bit from the last bottle I pulled 30 months ago. Still superb, and very enjoyable.
