January 26, 2018 - Strong in all regards. Generous fruit and appealing savoriness, backed by earth and mineral depth. Bold, balanced, and long.

January 26, 2018 - 1998 - 2015 Syrah tasting Flight 2 - One of the wines of the tasting with great mature fruit, decaying autumn leaves, a touch of pepper, blood orange acids. Very balanced and delivering what you'd hope for in an aged syrah.

September 4, 2010 - When you open the Westerly Syrah and put it in a glass or decanter, it displays a wonderful, deep purple luminescence. You just want to shine a light through it and enjoy its depth of color. Put your nose into the glass and it reveals aroma of cooked blackberry jam. This wine is made from very ripe fruit and comes in at 14.5% alcohol. I wouldn’t call it flabby like many an Aussie shiraz, but it isn’t begging for long haul aging like a syrah heavy Chateauneuf du Pape. This wine comes with some mild tannins, but it’s pleasant as a big, rich, everyday drinker worth all of it's price tag. A sip delivers ripe berries, ripe plum, and appeals from the top, to the bottom of the bottle.
