Community Tasting Notes 7

August 3, 2019 - Classic, typical Nebbiolo nose: marasca cherries, cedar, menthol with tar and rose internal aromas. Showing some maturation, but not losing freshness. Medium to full bodied, typical Nebbiolo acidic backbone, long finish driven by inner aromas.

The tannins are still quite gripping--there are mixed reports in the CT reviews, but this bottle was well stored and definitely is not resolved. My guess is that this will always be a tannic wine, and this may simply be an unyielding wine as it turns tertiary.

That said, it is open for business as far as its bouquet and mid-palate, just pair it appropriately, or let it rest and see where it goes. This is not falling apart or drying out anytime soon.

May 25, 2019 - Last of six - just started to fade on the downside with light fruit and dried cherries dominating followed by in secondary notes with underbrush and tar. Nice

February 17, 2019 - Fruit is a little muted. Balanced, with mid level complexity. A nice wine, but not outstanding.

February 22, 2016 - Licorice and spiciness outweigh the cherry fruits. In balance, with tannins very subtle. In a good drinking window and, probably, for the next couple of years.

October 5, 2012 - Plum cedar leather and distant floral nose. Thin texture but delicate sour fruit taste. I prefer something a little richer but certainly pleasant.
