February 14, 2019 - Mouton Rothschild vertical 1878-2002 (Old Swiss House, Lucerne): The herbs are strong in this one, probably most pronounced in this vertical. Lacking intensity, however, maybe in a bad spot currently. On the palate quite rough if not wild. More bottle age will be clearly welcome to soften the edges.

February 14, 2019 - Mouton Vertical (Lucerne): Last wine of the evening with little detailed notes taken. It had some green elements, herbs on the nose and palate which give the wine good freshness (eventually not totally ripe tannins?). Otherwise quite smooth structure but with overall little excitement and limited complexity. But judging from other reviews here, the wine should have been decanted for quite some time to open up (our wine was double decanted and then slow-oxed for 3 hours). 91 point experience but with a low confidence level.

December 24, 2018 - A very interesting wine. First - after 2 hours decant - very fruity, spicy, thyme. After a few hours liquorice, tobacco, coffee. Long finish.

Rockss and Fruit

(Chateau Mouton-Rothschild) Classic nose of tobacco, tar, cassis, lead pencil and some spicy oak. Incredible amount of red fruits on the palate with huge structure and great defintion on the midpalate that extended to the finish. Long finish. Lots of stuff to chew on here. This has really fleshed out and gained weight since I tasted it out of barrel. Classic.
