September 7, 2019 - Wow, age has been kind to this wine. The color is still bright, the acid has softened, drinking real well now. Aromma typical of SRH, flavors of ripe red raspberries, medium finish. I'm glad I hung on to more.
December 16, 2017 - A little bricking on this eight-yer-old wine, the nose has s lit of secondary notes. The palate has a lot of secondary notes with some good cherry, a lot of cola, and spice. I do like this, although it is hotter on the palate than the ABV would suggest at 14.1%. Good wine, though not the best of this crazy night. It has been open for a full day
May 4, 2017 - Lovely wine from Greg Brewer. It is certainly well-made, with very expressive fruit, despite the age. A nose full of red fruit, subtle white flowers, forest floor and a strong scent of rose petals meet up at first sniff. Being well-balanced and integrated there is no doubt this effort is the result of skilful winemaking. Of course there is no heat, oak appears balanced as does the acidity and fruit. The 2009 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot will perhaps continue to develop for a number of years, but it certainly drinks perfectly tonight too!
Tasted in a flight with 2009, 2012 and 2015 Brewer-Clifton S:ta Rita Hills Pinot Noir.
August 19, 2016 - The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like cherry and forest floor. It tastes like cherry and mushroom. The body is light/medium. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.
January 29, 2016 - Drank over two days, better on the first day and at cellar temperature vs room temperature. Opens with crisp and ripe bing cherry with some black raspberry flavors. Good intensity. Excellent QPR. Drinking well now but still youthful.
October 2, 2015 - Very red. strawberry, cherry violet nose. Lively palate with cherry and strawberry. Good food wine. Getting a slightly bitter/metallic note on the finish, otherwise very nice.
May 20, 2015 - Unrefined. Never opened up.
April 13, 2015 - dark cherry, some menthol/clove on the nose. palate is red cherry with some earth and forest floor. very smooth finish.
February 7, 2015 - Definitely better now than my previous note in 2012.
Ruby red, no thinning at the edges. The nose is bright red fruit, anise, and purple flowers. Medium plus body, nicely plump with bright red fruit like cherry and strawberry dominating. Good acidity and medium plus finish. Tremendously food friendly and definitely hitting its stride.
November 20, 2014 - Much easier to drink than I would have thought. Sure it had all of the overthetopness of C-noirs but the age seemed to soften it, round out the corners and tone down the volume.
Bright perfumed nose giving way to dark cherries on the palate. Balance with "enough" complexity (I thought it lacked enough depth) and a long finish. Maybe not a "go to" C-noir but they certainly redeemed their image in my view with this bottling.
