March 24, 2021 - Gang of 4 in Covid19 times; Southern Rhone (@ RW): Beautiful bouquet with garrigue, red and ripe dark berries, some flint stone. Same on the palate, juicy acidity, a pleasant touch of sweetness, some cedar, chocolate and sweet licorice.

93-94 pts

August 14, 2019 - Very ripe and rich, but certainly better than expected - I am not always crazy about this cuvée in warm vintages. Drinking a point right now, this is creamy, sweet, lingering on - but neither pruny nor alcoholic - with a ribeye steak, it works fine ...
    - will keep, but not necesarily improve

September 3, 2017 - Popped and poured. This is a medium red wine with virtually zero sediment in the entire bottle. I read that this is unfiltered, but question whether that is true. On the nose, I get cherry, strawberry, licorice, some slight heat, and a touch of sandstone. In the mouth, this is a silky and mouth-filling wine, with sweet red fruit throughout. The finish carries the sweet lushness forward, with a touch of candided sensation. Overall, this is exactly as advertised -- a pure blast of old-vine Grenache. The wine is hedonistic yet beautiful. 93 points.

February 23, 2015 - Concentrated, lush, rich and mouth filling, the wine is packed with perfectly ripe cherries, kirsch, black raspberry, thyme, jam and earth. Sweet, showy, fresh and vibrant, this is a great expression of 100% old vine Grenache.

August 22, 2014 - So, in a lot of ways this is classic Barroche; the jam made of overripe strawberries mixed with figs and that goes remarkably well with the garrigue. Straight from the bottle it's viscous and mixes the sweet fruit with a briny and mineral feeling.
To begin with it's a bit on the heavy side but it gets lighter with lamb and some hours in the air. It comes together, settles down and finds a balance. I'd love a bit more acidity and a little less extraction or some Cinsault or Mourvedre in the mix, just to cool it off a smidgen.
