May 4, 2019 - Sadly, we waited too long. Super bricky in color and vinegar.

November 29, 2013 - Cloudy purple. Nose very fruity, then retreated into a shell, then almost a walnut shell smell mixed with fruits (I get this sometime as a type of corked, but can get it in amarone, among others) Taste was a very good mix of fruits. The nose was troublesome, taste hinted at a very good wine.

April 27, 2010 - A little young, got better and more elegant with time.
Started showing a little oaky, burly then evolved to more earthy notes. Still, firm tannins, cherry and dark fruits notes.
Rather masculine and big. Needs a little time.

March 20, 2009 - Very cloudy mauve colored wine. First sip seemed bitter and a bit off. Decanted and after half an hour it was amazing. Great nose from the beginning. Classic violets and barnyard. On the palate it was rich almost opulent. Quite a surprise given the initial impression. Lovely to drink.

August 30, 2008 - I had no idea that the 99's were so rich and ripe, particularly a beune, this wine was fantastic, light cloudy color and very expressive nose, a pleasure to consume

March 21, 2007 - Pop and pour. This has a clear rim and is indeed bricking. I find Meadows's description on target, except perhaps his statement about "rich flavors." On the nose, a distinct, gamy note with some muted cherry fruit. On the palate, again it savors of the farm and recessed dark fruits. There's no denying its prodigious length on the tongue. The tannins are fine and sweet enough to balance a sour, orange-rind acidity, which lingers for quite a while. Admittedly, It is thin and the fruit is nowhere near the forefront, as others have noted, but I can't say it bothers me in this instance. The typicity is good. Can't rule out mishandling prior to receipt from WinesTillSoldOut either, but I really don't get the feeling that the issue here is that it's cooked. I wouldn't give it 92 points, but I can see why Meadows liked it. I like it too, particularly after several hours in air.... I have one more bottle, which I'll open three or four years hence. (I don't think this has the stuffing to last much more than a dozen or so years from bottling.) [I'll edit this note after another day or two to see how it holds up with exposure.]

Edit: it didn't hold up at all. By day three, it had become a totally oxidized mess. Troubling. Maybe there is something wrong with this lot, after all.

January 1, 2007 - Fairly pale blood red with a touch of browning visible on the rim. This is quite thin and unappetising directly on opening but after a few hours of air it blossoms, showing a delightful nose of spicy burnt earth and sweet ripe red fruits. The palate entry is lovely and sweet with rich red fruit, a very classy structure, and a touch of gaminess. This is not a big wine, but it has sweet fruit, great poise and a long finish. ***

December 5, 2006 - This wine was rather pale in colour with some touches of browning already. The nose displays typical Corton characteristics (earth, cherry, smoke) but doesn't seem very alive. This is all confirmed in the mouth - good typicity but dull. Is this in a "difficult phase" ?

November 22, 2006 - This may be past its prime...not much of a nose, muted fruit, and not at all complex...a hint of meaty/gamy character, but somwhat dull & thin. Since I purchased recently I cannot exclude that it was badly kept and is showing subtle signs of heat damage.

March 21, 2003 - More earth than fruit, which is either surprisingly simple or very shut down.
