May 10, 2020 - BEAUTY! In honor of Mother’s Day we selected this, our last bottle, and remembered how we bought it from Barbara Richards (Sheldon’s mother) in her dining room overlooking the vines. We recalled observing her gnarly hands opening the bottle we were tasting as she talked about the vines she planted and personally tended to over the years. She seemed to know every row and vine. She passed a few years ago but this wine, her legacy, lives on. Inky dark color with rich smooth mouthfeel a real joy. Wish I had more. No decant required, the wine is still drinking nicely at its peak.

February 9, 2020 - Showed up on CT "Drink Now" list.

Black/red color. Great nose - cinnamon, sweet cherry, baking spice and cocoa. Full body, integrated tannins, medium acidity and long finish. Flavor profile on palate similar to nose. Clearly at peak but should be good for 1-3 more years. 92+/-

June 8, 2019 - Very interesting wine. An initial pop and pour, this one had a very candied raspberry and cherry nose. On the entry, black cherry cola with some figs and a hint of dark cacao. The finish of this wine went to a very dark and soil rich truffle and mushroom for about the first 45 minutes. Almost seemed to have a straw or weedy kind of character. After an hour, the finish changed dramatically and this one was rocking. My goodness these Paloma Merlot are good.... If I could only keep my hands off of my younger vintages so that they could become older vintages!!

June 7, 2019 - This was opened alongside a ‘15 for comparison sake. Aromatics were similar to the ‘15 (red and black fruit) but less candied. More dirty, but not off putting. However, the finish on this was very unique...it turned very umami/earthy/herbal. Maybe an odd phase as it wakes up? Structure was still very solid (as expected for mountain fruit) so this may hold a while...

Almost two hours later: Better with air. Became more dark chocolate covered. Wow. The savory notes have faded and it’s showing a more rich and dark cocoa type finish. Very enjoyable.

May 23, 2019 - Dark red color, initial bread yeast nose upon pulling of cork which disappeared after a few minutes when the plum and dark berry fruit appeared. Dense dark berry fruit, plum, some spice, some chocolate ending with a long smooth finish. We have been buying these wines since 1994 and they rarely disappoint and seem to last for many years.
