March 3, 2015 - Took a chance, bought this wine in a specialized store in St-Martin. Superd nose, with hints of blackberries, leather and cherry. Mouth is round, tanins still present, more on the tertiary notes (leather, tobacco, earthy) but still a little fruity, a little tar, tart cherries maybe. Good to the last drop!

    December 28, 2012 - Bottle 2 of 2.

Decanted for 3-4 hours in an open decanter.

The opposite of the earlier bottle. Vinegar note is impossible to miss now, though there is still pleasant fruit and good weight.

That being said, my sister drank some of this the following day and thought it had improved!

    December 25, 2012 - (Bottle 1 of 2 from the same evening)

Decanted for 2-3 hours (with stopper on decanter).

Absolutely stunning richly perfumed nose which kept me occupied for minutes. The attack did not disappoint with layers of complex, mature blackberry, black cherry, smoke, animals, tar and earth. In terms of points, at this point I would have judged the wine an easy 95, quite possibly higher. However, the finish, while long and juicy, was very faded and past its best, already quite vinegary. It is very hard to score a wine like this, which was a most enjoyable experience, albeit one tinged with disappointment.

February 25, 2012 - Beautiful and mature bouquet with still some cassis, smoke, beautiful oak and a slight touch of barnyard. Also tertiary impressions in the nose. On the palate the wine is developing tertiary impressions as well. Popped and poured the acidity was quite dominant and the tannin a bit drying. During the evening the wine became more pleasant and complex, rustic with still some fruit juice and tobacco. I don't know how this bottle was stored, but it is probably wise not to wait much longer; the wine will not improve.
