July 25, 2020 - Green apple nose with hints of Brioche, those notes carried through on the palate but a warmness. Medium bodied with well balanced acidity and moderate length finish.
December 21, 2019 - This was old!! Had in my cellar for at least 14 years!!! Really special, carmel, lift, beautiful
January 12, 2016 - Very lively palate, with lemon and tart green apple giving way to chalky mineral and bitter orange zest. Vinified in oak barrels and it shows in the wonderfully creamy yet effervescent mid-palate, and in the bit of buttered toast on the long tingly finish. Lovely texture and balance. Top stuff. 50-50 Chardonnay/Pinot Noir from Lieu-dit Les Blanchiens (which has replaced Fleur de Mareuil as the current name of this bottling). No dosage, I believe.
November 3, 2013 - Citrus, lime and green apple nose with those notes carried through on the palate but adding a light creaminess. Medium bodied with well balanced acidity and moderate length finish.
April 29, 2012 - Lively, interesting, great champagne
February 20, 2012 - Crab apple and dried flowere on the nose with a hint of brioche. Lively acidity, fine bubbles and more crab apple in the mouth cleanly and crisply
finishes with a medium length bitterness that one can savor
June 17, 2011 - Poured into the glass a brilliant yellow gold color. Initially on the nose we picked up the honey, some light fruit like pears and the yeast components but the true pleasure of this wine comes when it hits your lips. Tasting the wine make you think chardonnay although your mouth is telling you champagne. The oaky, honey, buttery flavors give the wine the taste of an aged burgundy white. The wine while full bodied does have some interesting fruit flavors mainly old apples. The finish is where the wine tied back together. The truely unique and interesting wine merged the beautifully aged chardonnay and the champagne with a nice nutty (peanuts?) finish. If you like wine like champagnes then try this, if that's not really your thing try it anyway but with some food!
October 10, 2010 - Drunk immediately after a very pleasant Pol Roger, this showed how character, subtlety, interest and class fruit can interact to give a truly different and individual champagne. Delicious.
September 30, 2010 - Rich, quite oaky, fruit struggling to poke through at this point. Some creamy apple.
August 8, 2010 - How much champagne can you drink in a day?; 8/7/2010-8/8/2010 (Reims, France): Great yellow gold color. Aged in oak and you can tell. Amazing butter and oaky flavors laced with cherry and strawberries. Interesting through the mid palate. Finish is short but sweet. Toast coming through on the finish. Very unique wine because of the oak aging.
