  November 3, 2011 - Soft, easy drinking and absolutely delicious. Translucent dark purple color; enticing fruit-driven nose (darker berries especially) with mushrooms in the background; rich, dark fruit flavors, a nice wintergreen undercurrent and hints of pepper; smooth tannins, but enough for balance, that build very nicely through the long finish, accompanied by dark fruit and more mushrooms. Delicious as a pop and pour, but it gains complexity as it opens. Need to be careful with food - great by itself (probably a great party wine) and went well with pot roast and mashed potatoes but a disaster with pasta and tomato sauce. Very good at this price point.

  August 6, 2011 - Was not at all a fan of this syrah. Great fruit-forward nose with a nice spicy underbelly might give the impression that tastiness was coming, but don't be fooled. Tart, unpleasant fruit with nearly overwhelming tannic spice just wasn't my cup of tea. Gave up after 2/3 of my first glass.

  May 9, 2011 - The wine alone or with dinner had a bitterness that didn't seem to leave, even with considerable time to air. The smell was appropriate for warm-weather Syrah, if not a little subtle.
