March 10, 2018 - Better than expected. Cheap Argentinian Cabernet Sauvignon. On the first night, did a 30 minute power decanting; wine was still a bit closed and slightly bitter. Opened up nicely after 24 hours in bottle (vacuvin) and was even better after 48 hours. Lots of tannins in the bottle and some underlying sweetness came through. I think the age has helped this one improve. Violet color, blackberry and currant notes, with a bit of complexity. Not bad at all.

June 4, 2012 - Things started off real good here. Dark, almost opaque color. Solid if slightly earthy blackberry nose, with some charcoal. As soon as it hips the lips, you can tell they filtered out the good stuff. The mid palate is almost completely missing. The fruit is varietally correct, and could have been intense if not filtered. They may have used the spinning cone, or the osmosis machine, but something tore this wine up. Way past medium bodied. Some funky, probably non barrel oak. Just barely enough acid. Has that earthy, menthol taste we often get from Chile on the finish, that also has some vanilla, caramel, and black cherry. Wish we could have the full potential of these grapes.

December 4, 2011 - Licorice and earthy nose. Opens up after a few hours. Not my favorite, but not bad for the price. Would buy again.

October 8, 2011 - A reasonable but not outstanding wine that benefited markedly from decanting. Upon first opening, it had a surprising bitterness on the front end that masked some its more subtle qualities. It smoothed out and opened up over an hour, and while it never rose to anything outstanding it proved decent and quite drinkable.

August 3, 2011 - very good everyday drinking wine for it's value. smooth, wonderful balance of fruit and acidity. not too robust so can be had on it's own without food - and stands up on it's own without food.

June 8, 2011 - Very nice up front nose of licorice, blackberry, light mineral and meats in there as well; medium light body, fairly juicy with a slight bitter earth and anise quality.
