September 24, 2019 - Bought 2 six-packs at 20/b on closeout from a local independent shop 15+ years ago; this is #8 consumed: good value. Decanted with light sediment for its age. Remarkably dark purple--almost opaque; fragrant mature blackcurrant nose; blackcurrant, some black cherry, with some oak; some persistence. Delicious with interesting fruit fade over 2 hours: among the clearest examples of fruit fade I've experienced with some yeastiness emerging. We have enjoyed a bottle about every 2 years and learned from its evolution. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I consider this outstanding- when considering quality, age, and price.

June 4, 2017 - This is still in its drinking window, but definitely on the downslope. Good fruit is there: ripe cherry, milk chocolate, plum, and very slight hint of dill. Not much in the way of tannin, making the bottle a bit flabby. But, still a fine wine. Very well made. Wish I had opened it a few years ago. I did hold on to some for day 2. Interestingly, it was a tad richer/deeper, but also a bit oxidized, it seemed. Drink now!

August 23, 2015 - Definitely time to drink. Palate was thinning showing lean (not fresh) red fruit, a bit of oak and slightly austere finish. Not flawed - just finished.

December 30, 2014 - Cork failure but double decanted and drank great that night and even two nights later. A little tannin left but relatively smooth

December 12, 2014 - Drink now, this has passed its peak but still drinkable. Soft rich midpalate of faded fruit/tannin.
