January 5, 2020 - Loek's birthday lunch and tasting (Restaurant Bak, Amsterdam): This wine shows a bit more expression than the '90 Harlan Estate; A superb colour and the red and black fruit still pushes in your nose and mouth; in the taste lots of minerals, however just behind the first impression in the mouth I missed a bit the concentration that returned in the second part of the taste. The overall expression is one of youth.
This wine still has a life ahead of 15 to 20 years. Absolutely one of the best wines of '82.

December 7, 2019 - Decanted. Dusty tobacco and old leather framing suggestions of savory cassis. Quite complex. Bright and very much alive. Extremely enjoyable.

December 1, 2019 - This was my favorite bottle of LLC and now favorite vintage as well. This wine started off slow and tight but blossomed into a wine with incredible depth and complexity in the decanter. This wine has striking acidity with beautiful fruit. So amazing this wine is 37 years old! This wine is in its prime time drinking window but I do not believe there is any rush. This particular bottle outshine my current favorite 1982- Gruaud Larose.

November 15, 2019 - long finish, blackberry, leather cassis. decanted for over 1.5 hours. Still going strong. has life left in it..

November 13, 2019 - Seductive velvety nose, the palate is beautifully fruity and deep, exceptionally clean, refined and pure with forest floor and earthy tones, not a blockbuster -82 bdx, instead elegantly complex and profound. An otherworldly wine which is just as good as they say and maybe even better. Life is grand.

(Château Léoville Las Cases) Dark red violet color, lightly bricked, with pale meniscus; pencil lead, graphite, tart black fruit nose; tasty, pencil lead, graphite, tart black fruit palate, with years to go yet; long finish

(Château Léoville Las Cases) From magnum -dried mushroom, truffle and beef bouillon nose; tasty, au point, with tertiary flavors still minor compared to the deep black fruit, much more youthful than most of the '82s I've had; medium-plus finish

(Leoville-Las Cases) The 1982, which I have had once before at the same location and it was tight as a you know what. Tonight it was no different. What is up with this wine? Mute on the nose with hints of tobacco, earth and mineral but not much else and you had to really concentrate to smell that tobacco, earth and mineral. The palate was closed shut and only started to come out of its shell towards the end of the night and you could see hints of its greatness. Three years between me having this wine and it budged maybe an inch. This maybe outlive us all. I say ten years before it starts to strut its stuff.

(Chateau Leoville Las Cases) This was just young. Ungiving on the nose but all the stuff on the palate was there. Dark fruits, amazing levels of concentration, a long sneaky finish, noble tannins and the proper balance but this botttle showed particularly young and closed. Eh, it happens. Great wine but hold off for at least five more.
