September 3, 2021 - 1 hr decant and it was definitely required, a bit more would be even better. Showing some complexity now. Impenetrable colour. Vanilla oak, plums. High alcohol but no noticeable heat. Tannins resolved. Expect heavy sediment.
July 11, 2020 - sweet, syrupy, showing signs of maturing but still on the fresh side. Alcohol does not show heat. If looking for big bold wine with slight complexity, this one not bad
January 26, 2016 - Beautiful wine, Aussie wine made by Frenchmen, very well done. Am nervous of the source that I acquired these from, so typically I would assume quite a few years ahead but given the wine is lovely now I am not risking it, drinking over the next 12 months. Hallidays review is incorrect.
July 16, 2015 - Tasting superb now but has growth potential albeit probably can't get much better. Worth every cent from GWD.
June 4, 2014 - Finally this wine is getting approachable and tannins are starting to soften and let the fruit shine. Still a monster so maybe another year might be the early drinking window.
December 25, 2012 - opened for 1 hour, really young pup. a very one dimensional sweet jammy 15% alcoholic ride. Alc and heat present and needs few years to tame it down. for a $50 fruit ride is ok but won't pay over $100 for it as it's just no contest with Torbreck Descendant/Factor.. lucky bought it much cheaper.
November 13, 2010 - Plum and coconut oak on the nose, the palate has layers of ripe dark fruits including, plum and blackberry, there is also violets on show and even some meaty notes find their way into the mix. There are exceptionally soft but persistent tannins and lingering finish without being cloying and heavy.
