December 23, 2022 - Very timid upon opening, maybe even a little flat and uninviting but it sure blossomed in the glass. Nose of leather, tar, smoke, tobacco, maybe a dried prune. Notes of spice, tar, there’s a minerality there as well. Tannins still present and grippy but mild with a lingering finish. Pleasantly surprised by this one and glad we let it do its thing. Very enjoyable even if on the downslope.
August 8, 2021 - Still tastes fresh despite its years. Grows on you as you let it breathes.
Enjoyable !
February 18, 2017 - Superb showing for this, my last bottle of this wine. Dark in the glass, impeccable balance between the cedary notes, classic cassis and graphite notes. with good acidity still in place. Perfect with a beef roast and yorkshire pudding.
May 23, 2015 - No formal notes...
March 17, 2012 - Well balanced, even mild after all these years. Goes very well with steak and beef stew.
February 19, 2012 - Sitting in a happy place right now, but the fruit on this bottle was starting to thin a touch. Decent structure and complexity that keeps it just on the right side of thin and austere although I would start cracking open any remaining bottles. Pencil lead, soil and some tannic structure gives this a definite old world feel and is enhanced with food in your mouth. Probably at its peak in terms of complexity, although no rush to drink.
March 26, 2011 - This wine is still drinking very well in spite of it's drinkability being past due on cellar tracker. There is a sweet nose of cream and cherries. The taste was very smooth and even but not a lot stands out. There is a little cream, a little dark fruit, a little tannin and a little of this and a little of that. Again, nothing huge stands out. I'm glad I popped it.
July 2, 2010 - Dark cherries on the nose
A little sous bois
Tabac
Present acidity followed by a tidal wave of red fruits
Nice length

June 14, 2010 - Very nice Margaux - well balanced and showed great smoothness with spicy food.
February 19, 2010 - Should have decanted this wine for a couple of hours because out of the bottle it showed nothing but cedar, graphite and tobacco notes. The final sips showed the deep fruit hiding in there. Still balanced and somewhat tannic. I think it will hold up for a few more years.
