December 3, 2023 - A truly incredibly wine for my tastes: the oak has subsided entirely, leaving a beautiful blend of herbal, leather, and red fruit on the nose and a super big pop of ultra fresh black cherry at the very center of the palate that continues to deliver through the finish. My favorite wine, by far, of the night, with only Petrus coming in a close second in the 1989 bdx horizontal. I thought this was a showstopper.

I have a palate less appreciative of old, tertiary-heavy wines with little to no fruit. A few others in the session prefer those wines without fruit left, and they weren't as captivated, finding this wine sweet with that cherry core.

October 12, 2023 - Decanted for several hours prior to our Bucket wine dinner. Unfortunately, bottle was corked. Noticed immediately in the glass that aromatics were off, tasted quite green, twiggy with no fruit, and proceeded to worsen as the nite wore on. Very unfortunate!

October 5, 2022 - Ever slightly corked. Aromatics were more Left Bank. Bit drying on the palate.

April 28, 2022 - From memory, this ‘89 was a step behind the dazzling ‘90 a couple of years ago. Nevertheless delightful, powerful and delicious. Black raspberry predominates. Intense and filling, almost meaty yet Right Bank fruity.

September 18, 2021 - There’s a touch of coffee aromatically and overall less focused than the stunning 1990.
