Blackberry, strong and sappy stemmy aromas. Some faecal matter that eventually blows off. Very stinky and reduced upon opening. With air, the fruit begins to emerge, with blackberry, cherry, star anise, Darjeeling, tobacco, pan juices, vanilla, and a gently nuttiness Savoury red.
Elegant mouthfeel, yet it retains a chalky tannic and acidic structure. The stemmy-ness is there, but it moulds into the wine with cola, milk chocolate.
Opinion: Must decant given the amount of reduction upfont. Could perhaps handle another 12 years, but I’m unsure whether is has the stuffing to get there. Try again in 3-4 years, and re-assess for last bottle. -
Locki Does not like this wine: 90 points
April 16, 2020 - I think this is unbalanced. The sharp acidity dominates. Deep, purple colour. Pepper and orange on the nose. Medium light body. Sharp berries initially, an empty mid palate but finishes with sharp citrus and spice. Medium long finish.

February 17, 2018 - Interesting as all Steve Webber’s wines are. Floral north rhone character but riper than the 2006. Raisin flavours start to dominate and pall after a glass or so.

November 5, 2017 - The extra couple of years have added an extra point or 2 to this wine. Mellow, smooth, silky, powerful, are all words to describe this rhone style. Very very nice indeed and will improve further from here.
