October 29, 2021 - textbook brick-red color. Sweet and perfumed on the nose, with raspberry and cherry fruit aromas and violet floral lift. Despite the color, it does not testify to its 15 years in the bottle on the nose. Also not very complex in its bouquet, though it is certainly pleasant and inviting. With some air in the glass, there is a bit of a savory, smoked meat note that emerges and adds a welcome bit of contrast. On the palate, it also comes across as still quite young, with powerful, mouth-coating, drying tannins. The flavor profile pretty closely mirrors the bouquet, except that the sweet fruit aromas have become more tart fruit flavors. But there is also some earthy, mushroomy depth, which I like.
overall, perhaps a bit of a disappointment because of my expectations for something compelling from a 15-year-old Barolo.1 person found this helpful Comments (1) -

November 30, 2019 - What a wine! Some bricking on the rim. Great complexity on the nose, cherry and violets to the fore. Fresh with good acidity, fruity and tannic on the palate. The alcohol is quite high at 14.5% but did not detract. This was not an expensive wine but is a great example of how good the 2006 vintage is. This has plenty of life left in it and will continue to develop favourably in my view.

October 12, 2019 - Dark ruby color with some brown notes on edges. Rose on nose, cherry flavors and reduced tannins. Peaking or maybe on downhill side of life.

September 14, 2018 - This really has opened out nicely with a wonderfully complex and fragrant nose taking in menthol cherry, parma violets, a hint of farmyard, and low-key black olive. A really interesting broad corss-section.
Equally enticing palate, albeit with still noticeably grippy tannins supported by enough acidity to accentuate the drying nature.
Great with food now, but it will be interesting to see if the tannins drop away in time. If they do, proper maturity could be very interesting indeed. -

August 29, 2018 - uby red color with some suspended sediment despite decanting. The expressive nose of tar, cherry, roses and earth. Cherry on palate with some acidity and long finish. Good wine.
Update - not much loss of character on day 2. (0 views)1 person found this helpful Comment
