April 28, 2022 - Bordeaux Wimps (La Trompette, Chiswick): 2/12. Nose shows red and black berries, touch of soil and caramel. Medium bodied, ripe fruit, touch of spice and caramel, tactile with soft tannins, fresh acidity, expands nicely on finish.

December 18, 2021 - I enjoyed this much more in 2019, tonight showing a fruit juicey profile, seeming specious rather than redemonstrating the detail and presence I remembered. This did receive less air than the prior example (from the same case); maybe bottle to bottle luck, maybe service, maybe a funny phase. But not convincingly a great Figeac tonight, whatever the cause.

May 29, 2021 - A beautiful Figeac. Some bottles better than others but always enjoyable.

April 11, 2021 - Pristine bottle, sixth from a full case purchased at auction in 2014. Bottle No. 092428. Opened three hours in advance, not decanted. Classic Figeac nose, fresh and transparent, focused and precise, with lovely gravelly warmth and a hint of Cabernet leafiness; the light to medium bodied palate is elegant and silky, supple and understated, flowing but firm, with perfectly judged tannic grip; the finish is Cabernet-driven and has very good length. Figeac was very successful in 2004 - if you appreciate understated finesse. Drink now and over the next decade.
