February 10, 2024 - ABV: 12.5%. The nose displays a lot of forest floor and roasted herbs with some fruit characteristics hidden underneath this herbaceous front. On the mid-palate, there's a smooth mouthfeel with well-integrated acidity, lifting the fruit to exhibit a black cherry cola-like profile towards a lengthy and pleasant finish. This is a solid wine and with such a low ABV, it should be able to cellar for another decade. If you're planning to open your bottle soon, I'd recommend decanting it for at least an hour to "wake up" the fruit.
March 5, 2016 - Sweet and brutish but still delicious.
August 22, 2015 - Best of three bottles so far. Finding a good amount of bottle variation.
May 24, 2015 - On top of a fairly classic frame this had all sorts of sweaty funk that clomped noisily but then hid, on and off for a few hours.
May 18, 2013 - Consumed over two days. Day 1 typical PN bouquet although somewhat muted. Satisfactory fruit with smooth but short finish. Day 2 everything a little less intense. In sum, a good but not excellent sipping wine. Looking forward to bottle #2 in the future.
January 23, 2013 - Delicious, but cabernet-like. Mellows and becomes silky if you cool it to cellar temp (i.e. below 60 F). A bit acid, am not sure it will age well. Excellent with duck stewed in pinot noir.
August 25, 2012 - Excellent Pinot. Good body, good fruit.
July 1, 2012 - Dissapointing. Tried 3 times over 1-1/2 years and each was underwhelming. Tight and closed, even after decantering. Harvey missed on this one, big time.
June 23, 2012 - Outstanding pinot noir!
The wine looks Ruby colored. It smells like Red Currant, Blackberry, and Phenolic. It tastes like Blackberry, Red Currant, Black Pepper, and Stoniness. The body is Light. The wine has Bright texture. The wine finishes Medium.
November 24, 2011 - Sizzling fire-engine red with perfumed aromas of charred berries and driftwood. Pretty
bing cherry and dusty dark berry are bound by defined cinnamon and cream notes. It
offers a silky texture maintaining fine structure and balance with refined tannins. This
small production, single vinyard red struggles somewhat at midpalate and has a off
beat finish that's indistinguished. The next night, elements of cardomom and a touch
of subdued raspberry were introduced with a dominating hard red candy edge. Highly
anticpated due to Harvey Steinman's rating, but came away disappointed. Perhaps
this will materialize into something different down the road. Thanksgiving Day with
saged turkey and all the fixins.
