June 24, 2021 - Shared with Joe, Guy and Lloyd as the Habs clinched game 6 vs Vegas and their entry into the Stanley Cup Finals...oh and the wine was good too! LOL! Part of a French wine evening (on Quebec's SJB fete nationale) that also included a 2017 Domaine Beaurenard white CDP starter, a '98 Calon-Segur, and a 2003 Hermitage Domaine J.L. Chave. This Langoa Barton was lovely 21 years in, but likely the #4 wine on this night for me. Feminine, dusty dark fruits, and tannins now soft, but still the telltale signs of a great wine...but against this lineup, simply some more spectacular bottles in the other three.

May 18, 2021 - Color: very dark purple with a ruby hue, without orange rims. Nose: rich, very nice mature notes: cigar-box, mushrooms and a bit of brett. At the first day the taste followed the nose. On its own with some fruit, but with food the fruit was almost gone. But at the third day it opened up after a while in the glass, although there still was not much fruit. Also after more than twenty years still some drying tannins. A rather classy (and classic?) St. Julien. I think I would keep another bottle for two or three more years should be drunk now. Very nice. (91-)92.

May 15, 2021 - Some genuine claret character, with rather dusty blackcurrant fruit and discreet oak. However, the palate is somewhat diffuse, even dull, and it doesn’t taste like the product of what should be a top vintage. I think this was better a few years ago.

April 17, 2021 - Very good but it's past its prime. Time to drink.

April 4, 2021 - Fairly deep ruby black with just the slightest hint of garnet at the rim.
    Leathery black cherry aromas,
Drinking absolutely fabulously with a nice minerally finish.
    Perfect right now
