February 1, 2022 - Tasted alongside the 2006, this was bigger but balanced and fresh. No hint of premox in either bottle so we were quite lucky. This bottle was greatly appreciated by the group of experienced drinkers. Totally what one would expect form an untainted Leflaive Chevalier with mineralogy, orchard fruits and subtle richness. The best bottles from this vintage are quite good indeed.

August 21, 2021 - Clean bottle, very fresh. Nice reduction and subtle smoke / sulphur. No overripeness, definitely opulent and ripe fruit but not overblown. Precise mineral and acid. In a completely different category than the ‘09 Bâtard from Leflaive, even the good ones. Superior to the ‘11 the next night too.

May 3, 2021 - Aged wonderfully, this bottle started to show complexity of multi-layers of fragrance and depth, getting closer to what Montrachet would able to offer. Outstanding!

November 6, 2020 - Rich golden yellow; nose a bit oxidized, also some sweetness; soft, rounded attack, again a hint of oxidation but happily not too much, sweetish long long aftertaste; a pity that older Leflaive often get these oxidative characters, when not they are marvellous, but they are far between, this one fine and nice, but no “singing” and - given price - a bit disappointing

January 18, 2020 - Wine tasting dinner - Domaine Leflaive and Bordeaux (At home): What a sad day! Ready for an excellent wine tasting dinner. Guests had arrived. Opening wine was Domaine Leflaive Chevalier Montrachet 2009. Ready to go, opened the bottle, extremely deep gold, almost amber colour. Ominous... It also turned out to be premoxed. Tried that before? unfortunately yes. Fortunately I had 2 more bottles in cellar. Ran down into the cellar and found another bottle. Opened it, turned out to be deep gold almost amber... Tasted it: Premoxed! One bottle left in cellar. Once again a run down into the cellar: This was really challenging both tasting-wise and financially. Opened the bottle and the colour...? The same and also premoxed. No more bottles left. Fortunately I had a Bienvenue Batard Montrachet 2008 also from Leflaive. Now heavily worried - opened the bottle - colour...? Deep gold almost amber. Conclusion premoxed. No more Leflaive that night. Not the very best evening. Luckily the Bordeaux's of the evening performed perfectly
