Uterly beguiling with powerful classic Syrah floral and roasted meat aromas, lovely clear fruit on the palate with high acidity, surprisingly moderate tannins, and low alcohol (13.2%). Medium finish, light body, nice ringing tannins on the finish. A thoroughly satisfying wine.

Cork. 13.2% A/v. Floral, red and blue fruits, herbs, cured meat. Light on its feet, but has good intensity and a pleasant length. Feathery tannins now integrated. Drinking well.

Dark ruby with garnet edges. Pronounced aromas of prunes, fragrant roses, coffee, rosemary, incense, meprosciutto. Lovely core of rich fruit on the palate, still fresh, high acids, strong but smooth and well integrated aromatic tannins, light to medium body, medium to long aromatic finish. Well balanced, fresh and delicious and aromatic, went well with garlic shrimp pasta.

Underbrush, purple fruits. Delicate and subtle in the mouth, with a stemmy / stalky edge. It bowls you over with it's feathery, light touch and gentle complexities. Completely and pleasantly surprised.

Awesome, delicate syrah. Believe this is whole bunch fermentation. A nice green streak with the beautiful Syrah fruit. Not that different from a Chave Hermitage 2008 had recently.

Amazing wine! So old world. Not "fruit forward", yet has so many different berry types: blue, black, even rasp boysen and strawb. Olive, white pepper, black pepper, dried herbs, meat, very meaty, then shortbread biscuit, a walk in the dark damp woods, then a walk by the seaside docks with seaspray, then up into the mountains where the ferns grow etc etc and that's just the nose. Perfect balance on the palate: savoury, but still with fruit and fresh, almost cranberry tart acidity. Then comes some dried fruit, leather subtle spice. Tannins are plentiful, but soft, powdery and nicely integrated. Changeable and a real pleasure to drink. Very happy making indeed! Update - managed to save some for day 2: still all the above, but even more smokey, dried herbs, dark cherry, a bit of prune and Japanese style "umeboshi" pickled plum. This has truly been one of the most exciting Australian wines I've ever tasted. Definitely the best under $100!
Geez this is good. Smokey blackberries and blueberries. Green peppercorns and cured meat. The stems are obvious but it only adds character and interest. Great acid backbone. This will only get better.

Stellar Syrah: boysenberry, black olive, violet, smoked meat, blackberry cream, a dollop of funk, more like a Pax crossed with a Cayuse or maybe Chapoutier than my fruit bomb friends from a former life, Two Hands and Torbreck. $47 from Garagiste, wish I had bought 2 to have another in 4-7 years. I have to think this site had/has wide diurnal swings, it really shows every side of Syrah. Terrific.
Opaque ruby. Pepper, mocha, dark berries, violets on the nose. Great depth on the palate, very clear and juicy at the front with lasting tannic concentration at the back. A beautifully balanced and powerful wine. 50 + 16 + 17 + 8.

pop n poured. followed over 4 hours. Best glasses were the last ones. Needs a healthy decant
Nose was dusty faint spicy green pepper like shishito. Palate was lots of savory elements with dark red fruit in the back ground. There is some mild charred oak. Good acids and tannin structure (unlike the 08 Reynvaan In the Rocks) Finished long. 13.2%. This is a thought-provoking wine. I liked it.

Dark fruits with a vegetable juice component. Balanced note of charred smokey oak. Slight note of herbs and spices. Med+ acidity. Considering the price, will not buy again.

Very dark slighty cloudy ruby. Sous bois, cassis, flowers on the nose. On the palate puckering tannins, spiky acids surrounding a firm fruit core. Some good elements but a bit disjointed right now. 50 + 16 + 16 + 7.

Red fruits on nose. Palate is sweet fruited with drier charcoal edge. Medium-full bodied. Medium+ concentration. Good length. Good with grilled lamb kebabs. Can't help thinking that my personal preference is for old world styles e.g. Cote Roties.

Check-up on Australia with Tim Wildman, MW (Adelaide/Barossa): Medium purple. Nose of green pepper, Negroni vermouth, dill, celery – in short lots of green stalks (fermented with full stalks). In the background there are dark fruit and some cherry. This is very complex but a bit of an acquired taste/smell. On the palate medium+ bodied with solid tannins and good body as well as freshness. Very interesting Aussie Shiraz, off the beaten track for sure

Dusty ruby. Complex ever-changing savory mix of rose, cinnamon, coffee, fig, and cherry on the nose. Lovely progression across the palate, from an initial acid bite on the front of the tongue, through a sweet juice on the middle, to a strong and lasting tannic finish.

Outstanding, elegant style with a great finish, good complexity and really food friendly. More like Arnot-Roberts in style, not at all like a big Barossa Shiraz.
