Tapping on my shrinking stock of 2009 Condrieus, that still marks an era where alcohol was not an issue and where violets and white flowers were the primary characteristics. At the time, most people were saying Condrieus cannot age and needed to be consumed within 3-4 years: what a bunch of crap! I have been enjoying those 2009 for more than 10 years now and this bottle was fantastic! A kaleidoscopic bouquet of flowers, honey, beewax without any alcohol richness, an ultimate balance that is rare these days. I’ll drink those by the case versus the Dorianes of today, and, at twenty something euros at the time (now more like 40-50!), those were exceptional QPRs! Only 3 more to go from this bygone era (2 Villards and 1 Vernay). When done, it will only be an infrequent treat… opening a Gangloff…

Well made, aged Condrieu is such a thing of beauty. This was one of the best white wines I've ever had. The fruit has almost totally disappeared and instead the mouth is full of honey and beeswax yet is still light with a medium mouthfeel. Smooth, long finish. Incredibly good.

Very light green gold. Lovely nose of honey, fresh flowers, melons, and tropical fruits. The palate mirrors the nose, adding a bit of musk and white tree fruit. The finish is medium-long with a pleasant bitter edge. Overall an excellent MOR Condrieu, reasonably intense but cleansing, still fresh if not exhuberant.

Beautiful Condrieu, but surprising in its nose and texture. Straw gold in color. On the nose nice melon and floral notes, and a hint of nuttiness and spice (I'm not sure about this particular vintage, but the current vintages see about 20% new oak). Somewhat creamy on the palate, but beautiful acidity to balance, this wine is not in the style of Condrieu with intense minerality. Pop and pour, but drinking wonderfully now.

Definitely softening and losing exuberance, still most enjoyable with lobster salad over avocado and tomato.
