  This is a very nice wine in the modern style. Fortunately it is not overly oaky, extracted or sweet. That said, it is a little hard to discern its Barolo/nebbiolo origin. Densely black fruity, rich and tasty though. But not for traditionalists.

  Singing. Still loads of time left and I think it still has time to improve, but it's GREAT today.

  This was a surprisingly nice wine. 1996 wasn't that long ago for a beautifully produced Scavino barolo. Wish I had ten more.

  Decanted and served and frankly did not strike a cord with the group as this softer and lighter wine was eclipsed by the other bigger wines. We do question Scavino Barolo ageing capacity too , especially from the 90s. Soft, a tough lacking in energy, soft secondary and a bit rustic. 92 and drink sooner than later.
