Nose of fine leather, dried red cherry, cloves, orange spice, nutmeg. As the wine opens up, sour cherry notes become stronger.
On the palate bright red cherry, soft spice, chalky soil.
Medium alcohol, medium body, medium+ acidity. Fine grained delicate tannins adds nice structure to the silky mouthfeel. The finish goes on for a full minute. It’s in a fantastic place right now.

Outstanding wine, but needed a bit of time to get going, decanted for an hour, but needed 2, as initially it was very closed. After some time in the glass, the nose of dark red fruits, forest floor, a touch of spice. When it opened up it had so much depth and complexity it was hard to describe, especially after 3 bottles of champagne and a White! 95 points

During a Paulee dinner, so only brief impressions. Dense palate, compact, complex aromas of earth and dark fruit. Feels very young still. Could be more elegant.

I think this was faintly corked even though nobody else saw it. Toughest on my own bottles, but pretty sure it was there as this showed flat and muted alongside an ’02 Echz and ’99 Cros P. You could get a sense of the power and weight to the wine, its just that the aromatic expression was turned off entirely in a way that was not at all comparable to the ’02 alongside. Really disappointing as I have absolutely loved this wine in the past and am pretty impressed with the last couple ‘02s.

96/99/04. Weakest of the trio, not sure if this vintage at Rouget just not very strong. Good fruit but more Echezeaux character. 93
