Deep crimson in colour bursting with powerful blackberry aromas. Extremely tight and firm. Seems more like a recent Bonnes Mares. Uncharacteristic of this appellation.

Dinner with Lord Rayas, winecowboy, Gianfranco Zola, jpijg and a few others (Hong Kong Winevault): A very generous offering from DW. Incredibly young due to it being x-domain. The color was bright red with no signs of rust, unlike the two 93s. It kept changing during the evening (classic chambolle elegance, new world pinot, even hints of old barbaresco) like a model at a fashion show. Really hard to pin down. Not as open as the 93s, but I think certainly a few points of upside. Who says burgundy can't age?

Drank the last bottle they had at Veritas, NYC. What a fabulous treat to taste this perfectly mature Burgundy that showed so clearly the fabulous terroir of this vineyard. At first the nose was awful (it was severe reduction according to Ruben, Veritas's amazing sommelier) and sure enough after about 20 minutes the off odors of animal fur and rotten meat began to wear off to reveal dark, medicinal cherry fruit and minerals. On the palate the wine was full of amazing rich dark cherry fruit that built to a fabulously long finish loaded with complex notes of ferrous minerals and all kinds of spices. The mature medicinal cherry fruit and the minerality of Amoureuses was so apparent and amazing to experience. Where do I find more of this??

Uncle 7 dinner with DC, GK, DW and a few others (Wine Vault): dark and very young. reticent nose. tight finish. apparently ex-domain bottle which makes it even more inaccessible at this stage. not for me.
