I had always been a bit disappointed with this wine until I tried it with some bottle age. The last couple bottles I've had had 7 years on them and were fantastic. This had a honey aroma and flavor and golden color from age but more particularly a complexity which makes it fascinating (and hard to describe), and helps it hold up well against a wide variety of food. This particular bottle was showing a bit of raisin which makes me think we drank it just in time - but for my taste 6-7 years seems to be the sweet spot to my taste.

Ripe stone fruits leading to apple, bit of oak, touch of pleasing saltiness and bitterness on the finish. Oak shines a bit too much at times and fleshiness can get a bit the better of this for ample tension, yet still better than most any $30 chardonnay out there.

Regular dinner group. Many wines based on the book “1001 wines you must try before you die”. (By EM @ Bottles): Some candy impressions in the bouquet and on the palate, good acidity, some minerals, sweetness and pleasant bitterness in the finish. 89 – 90
