  • From half, bottled Sept 2003, purchased from JJ Buckley auction in 2008. Poured translucent red brick. Acetone mostly blows off leaving nose of fresh cherry lozenge, summer plums. With PnP, palate is very sweet/sour but not liquoreux, refreshing, smooth and layered, slight oxidative note for added complexity. Needed 20 years to mature and should continue mellowing for another 20.

  • Best with 24+ hour decant. Enticing sweet/sour palate. Not at all cloying. Very balanced. Perfect with Thai sweet/sour dishes.

  • This half was less advanced than one consumed a yesr ago. More maroon, no bricking. Acetone on nose and palate needed long decant to leave an unusual sweet/sour wine, not too sweet or too sour. Good with food with sweet fruit sauces, especially Thai food.

  • From .375, "Mise de Septembre 2003." Acetone nose that quickly blows off. Crystalline mahogany/brick red in glass. Drinks like a tangy sweet-sour sherry. Racy and balanced. Good with pad thai with a squirt of lime, chicken satay with peanut sauce, and slightly salty Serrano ham or Parma prosciutto, Roquefort cheese.

  • Crystalline ruby with mahogany glints in glass. Lots of sticky sediment on cork and bottle. Sweet/sour cough syrup on nose and palate. Slight petulance keeps this from being too sweet. Peculiar taste, but not unenjoyable. Can last many more years. I think there is definite upside here for dedicated collectors. Drank from 375cl.
