Similar to previous notes, but I had to score this even higher. This may be the quintessential example of Brunello. The nose has such a sense of terroir, the wine dances on the palate with flamboyance and energy. Light to medium-bodied, this is also lighter in color than I usually see with Brunello. There is so much flair here. This wine is less about power, more about enticement. A real beauty, very classically-styled.

A few months after its 10th birthday, this was (1) open, accessible, and immensely food friendly, and (2) remarkably structured and complex for anyone paying attention. Leaned red over black, with long, lingering spice notes. Flattered a mushroom ragu without demanding the spotlight, but sported a huge amount of finesse and precision.
This is so approachable today that I have to assume it won't have quite the longevity of some of its more tightly wound contemporaries, but it's pretty darn perfect today, with a nice plateau ahead. Drink now, or hold at least 5 years.

(Lisini Brunello di Montalcino) Medium dark ruby color; savory, brett, reduction, tobacco nose; better on silky textured palate of dried cherry and charcoal with good balancing acidity; needs 2 years; medium-plus finish
