Even better than I remember the bottle last year being. This is a really gorgeous bottle of Trousseau / Bastardo. Medium garnet / ruby in the glass, with an intoxicating but hard to define nose - sour plumb, fresh but with a suggestion of richness, a hint off incense, smoke... On the palate this is lithe, lifted and smooth, with velvety, fine tannins and remarkable depth - again the slightly tart / sour dark plumb, but with no hard edges and a beguiling maraschino cherry / cherry liquor like richness, subtle (white) pepper spice. The combined effect is a charming example of depth without weight, the balance is spot on, the flavours pure and well delineated, the finish lingering, the wine compelling. I think this warrants comparison to Grand Cru Burgundy, it's really that good! ...the score may well be conservative. In a perfect place to drink now (and this bottle had less than ideal storage), but sure to last & maybe even evolve!

I really liked this. Pace the reviewer below, I thought this - my first 'bastardo' - tasted quite different than Jura Trousseaus I have tried (& normally loved). If I can buy more I'll try and take notes & attempt a more descriptive review. From what I can remember it was light bodied but full flavoured, not as spicy as a good Jura Trousseau, but with something else going on & plenty tasty !

Meh. Not a bad wine, but is more Trousseau than Bastardo (yes, they are the same thing) and that is not really my style. Soft, a bit yeasty, some red fruits come off as confected. Just didn't work for me.
